CONTEMPORARY FURNITURE DESIGN

Simon Hill Design based in Byron Bay, Northern NSW, Australia, has developed a reputation for fine detailed cabinetry, clean and understated contemporary furniture design. Traditional hand skills and modern technology are combined to create a fresh contemporary style and look.

EXPERTISE
Simon has worked extensively with Architects, building and constructing their designs.  The variety of work has ranged from designed interiors for fitted furniture, innovative designs for commissioned one-off pieces and modern contemporary kitchens and bathroom cabinets.  Beautiful furniture can become a point of reflection, a moment of appreciation, as well as being a utilitarian object.  Fine design is something we can choose to place in our lives or living environment... objects to appreciate.  Simon creates and builds contemporary furniture with an Australian aesthetic.  These creations are well suited to our more relaxed lifestyle on the North coast.

If you have always wanted that perfect piece of contemporary furniture or exquisite interior space, contact Simon for a consultation on 02 6685 7757 or come and visit the showroom in the Byron Arts & Industry Estate.

CONCEPT TO COMPLETION

The development of an initial design concept can be an exciting part of the design/making process. The final result can bring unexpected rewards, both for the maker and the client.

TRADITIONAL & MODERN TECHNIQUES

Old skills such as veneering and curved timberwork can be combined with modern techniques and machinery to create new exciting forms.  A mass produced item, by its nature, avoids personalised jointing techniques and attention to fine detail.

MATERIALS

A broad range of new and sophisticated materials allows for incredible design versatility. Modern contemporary furniture making has a lot to do with bringing these new materials together to create well designed pieces.
